Thanks for any advice

I use a guru, you wont need both. Guru is a controler, eggcelerator is a fan only. Guru is a fan, probes and controler.
I grill therefore I am.....not hungy. -
Lots of folks use temperature control devices on their ceramic cookers. You can read reviews of most of the models here: Temperature Controller Reviews They all work quite well. The real difference maker is the functions and features they have. Decide which one does what you want for the price you want to pay, and you'll do fine.

Thanks so much I have been looking at the digi q dx2 looks pretty cool

I just got a digi q x2. I love it! Holds temp perfectly, and I tested it in a rain/wind storm. So far its been worth it, and I feel better sleeping through the night for some reason.

That's awesome do you mind sharing cost?

I purchased a digiq dx2 the same time I bought my egg. I jumped in with both feet. Never cooked on a egg or used a digiq. Cooked a 11 pound butt 17 hrs at 225 until it reached 190. I started the egg, added few hand fulls of apple and hickory chips, set the digiq at 225 and went to bed. I said if it ruins it ruins it. Got up the next morning still at 225, the butt was at 160 and let it go until butt was 190. It settled at 195. It was a good as any I have cooked in 25 or more years. This one tasted so much better because I got to sleep. Since then I have done 5 pound brisket, beef ribs, BB ribs, and this past weekend a 6 pound duck all using the digiq and it holds the temp were you set it. I got mine from BBQ GURU I think it was about 200.00? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Speaking of rain and storms, do yourself a favor and give your investment some protection. This setup works well for me and cost me about $5. It's not in the pic but there is a snap on lid to cover it when it rains.Extra Large, 2 Large, Medium, Mini Max, Weber Summit gasser, Weber Q. Mankato, MN -
Wow now that's cool thanks a bunch

I use a ziplock bag that comes with the guru. I can read the display and push the buttons with it on. I leave the bottom open but it covers the unit and the plugs.I grill therefore I am.....not hungy.

I was actually able to run my cables inside, so I had my digi q in the house, it was nice. I paid 260 I think.
