Guys:
In the backyard now. Ash is cleaned out. Coals burning steadily for last 30 minutes. Coal (mix of old and fresh) to just below the fire line. Both flues completely open.
Bloody egg won't go north of 325.
Suggestions?

Give the coals a stir.Gerhard

Tried that. Even kicked it. No dice.

Coat hanger poked up through the bottom vent and up through the holes in the fire grate.Geaux Tigers!!!

If you are sure the grate isn't clogged, only suggestion I have is to raise the lid and give it max oxygen for a while. No reason why it wouldn't heat up.
Did you put any cold ceramics in? It could take a while for them to heat up and they limit oxygen.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC -
Too dark for that now; will have to try in morning, Gato.
Kicking the egg proving strangely therapeutic. -
Easier to do in the dark you can see the fire burning underneath.Geaux Tigers!!!

Nope, no cold ceramics. No idea why it's acting up.
I'm giving it 10 minutes and then just gonna let it go as is, burn off everything and start from scratch. -
Look up wiggle rod. Give you an idea of what you need to make with the hanger.Geaux Tigers!!!

I made one out of a stiff wire. Don't need it often.Geaux Tigers!!!

Completely surreal. Even with the bottom vent completely open and top off: no dice.
Stupid egg. Where'd I throw my $50 hibachi? -
Thanks, G- I'll look into it tomorrow. Too irritated (and hungry) to do now.

Is your fire box positioned with the slit towards the front? It's either got to be an airflow problem or some wet lump maybe.Felton, Ca. 2-LBGE, 1-Small, PBC, PK360, Genesis Summit, Camp Chef Flattop, Smokefire 24, Traeger Pro Series 22 Pellet with a Smoke Daddy insert, Gateway 55 Gal. drum, SNS Kettle w/acc.

High-que is great and all, but it is not needed for getting over 325....i'm guessing billyray is on to something with alignment.

Agreed.

If it is alignment, which it could be it, it should be discovered if the wiggle rod is tried.Geaux Tigers!!!

Not kidding, stick a leaf blower in the bottom vent and pull the trigger. It will blow all ash ect out, fan the coals and within minutes, you will have 750°. Open the lid, brush the soot from the grate and set your temp. Done.

heck, even the alignment shouldn't affect 325. my gut would be that the egg hasn't been used in a while and is probably pretty damp. or the lump is.
