Cleaning the crud in the daisy wheel

I can't even turn it easily anymore, with all the crud in there.  How does one clean it easily?

  • It helps to place the daisy wheel in the hot egg after the cook when you replace it with the ceramic cover.

    I do that all he time, it is my storage spot for everything after a cook.

    I think that can be fixed by tightening the screw, not sure but seems like the solution
  • I dropped mine in the hot coals after a cook and opened the egg wide open. It took everything off the daisy wheel. EVERYTHING! I had to reseason after, but it currently looks good as new. Amazing how cast iron comes back to life.

  • Steel brush, steel wool....spray with pam.  Good as new.

    A real Egger would cook it off!
