Still looking for a good stone for my xl. The 17 1/2" stone looks to me to be a good size for the xl. I don't want the monster BGE sells for the xl.
How is the quality of the ceramic grill store stones vs the ones from BGE ?

I picked up a pizza stone at Bed Bath and Beyond, have been happy with it so far.Cookin in Texas

The ones from the ceramic grill store are quite good. I have two that I use in place of the place setter. I use it down low in the spider. No problemsDave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

I have alot of stuff from ceramic grill store and its all good quality including the stone. I wrap mine in foil and wrap a tray in foil and set them on the spider for indirect cooking aslo.

What the chief says...... 13" in the spider for indirect and 16" for pizzas up in the dome on top of the adjustable rig. Both stones are of excellent quality.

Quinn's stone sizes are for a LBGE. I have an XL too, and I use a pair of 17" CGS stones for Pizza instead of the BGE stone that is over 20". When I am cooking indirect I use one of the 17" stones in my woo ring.
The 17" stones from CGS are top quality ... nice and thick.

Yeah, sorry, should have specified. Mine are for the large. I was speaking more about the quality of the stones than what egg they went to...which was his question in the first place...

I have an XL and I use the CGS pizza stone as a platesetter and for pizzas. Excelent stone.

Much appreciated !
I already have a plate setter , so I'm just looking for a stone to cook pizza on. Sounds like the CGS stones are good to go.

Sounds like you've already gotten some good advice, and I cannot comment on the quality of the CGS or BGE stones, but I have this stone (made by Old Stone), and am very satisfied w/ it:

So hopefully you have enough info that you can decide which one is best for you.
