iGrill Thermometer

Has anyone used the iGrill thermometer? Its a bit pricey but my ET-73 has been giving me trouble with sending and recieving temps. As well as I am on my second set of probes. The iGrill is a bluetooth device that can connect to you iphone. I've already ordered my new probes for my ET-73 so I'm stuck for a little bit.

    I have an IGrill and in principle it is great to monitor with my iPhone. However, it never works properly. Stops measuring temp in middle of cook, Bluetooth keeps dropping and it uses 4 AA batteries per cook. I would not recommend buying one.

    Piece of junk, IMHO.   

    - When the phone or ipad goes to sleep, the connection is dropped, meaning the APP doesn't support multi-tasking. 

    - Battery life in the probe was terrible.  Wouldn't even last 8 hours.  I returned it after 1 day.   Battery issues aside, any app designed for real time work, should support multi-tasking.  I'm surprised Apple approved it given that limitation.

    I've had a Maverick ET-7 (ET-732 predecessor) for about 10 years.  I've replaced the probes twice but otherwise, it has always worked great.  Considering what extremes the probes are put through, I think they have done pretty well.  FYI, the cost for a set of two probes is 20$.
