BGE Computer - ???
Last fall, my hubby and I were at a bbq rib cook-off in Luck, WI and one of the entrants was using two BGE's and had a computerized gizmo hooked up to one of them. Hubby and he had quite the discussion and now he'd like one of those gizmos. With Christmas right around the corner, could any of you help me identify what the computerized gizmo might be, how much it would cost and where to get it?
Thanks in advance for your help

Check out the BBQ temperature controller reviews on the Whiz's site:Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Do most people recommend the Digi Q or Stoker? I heard the Stoker was going to be wireless in Jan? Is that necessary. I've been considering one of these for over night cooks. Id like it to monitor the meat and dome temp at the same time.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

Digi Q & Maverick 732 are my weapons of choice. ;-)

KWF - I'm sure you are glad football season is over and basketball season has started. Wireless is the reason to have a Stoker vs the others. If you don't care about that, then I would save the money and get something else. My Stoker doesn't have wireless built-in but I use my Airport Express to provide my wireless connection. I monitor my temp and settings from anywhere. Also, with these you will monitor your internal meat temp and grate temp as opposed to dome temp. Hope this helps.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Yes, football season is rough on KY in the SEC. Your saying with a Stoker wireless I can monitor my grate and meat temp from anywhere that has a wireless signal? Can I increase or decrease the grate temp from my IPhone? I do not think I would but you never know. Wouldn't the grate temp be a little hotter than then dome temp? Thanks for the help. I don't know much about these and want to make sure I buy the correct one.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

@KWF- I have the Guru ProCom4 its a wireless unit. I love it. You can see the specs on the Guru website.Sorry, I can't help with any info on stoker or other units.I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike Bar.

Yes. I monitor and adjust my Stoker from my iPhone. As long as I have Internet access it will work. I have turned down the temp on the road when I needed to extend my cook.
Grate will be a few degrees or more lower than dome but mine is typically so close Im not sure there is an impact.
Basic will work for you. https://www.rocksbarbque.com/Systems.htmlJoe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

I can't remember the exact number but shipped up to Canuckistan with the 10cfm pit viper, it was all of $700.00 (Canadian dollars). Worth it to me! The Wizz has a video of it on his site if I remember correctly.I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike Bar.

Only been egging for around 11 months but have had great temperature control with the installed gear-lower vent and DFMT. I have done several 16-20hour low&slows, checking about every 3-4 hours during the night. Maverick ET-732 has enough technology for me and several hundred $$ less. Besides I can't justify the expense. To each his own-
