Has anyone tried not replacing top gasket and how does it affect performance?

  • I don't have gaskets on top or bottom. They work fine

  • I've replaced both gaskets twice.  I have gone without for about 2 years now.  I am not missing them.

  • I also have the Rutland lower,  nothing on top.  Works like a charm.  No leaks.  Tried gasketless for a while,  but my egg leaked too much.

Rutland on bottom, nothing on top.  If I had to do it over, I'd put Rutland on top, nothing on bottom - would keep it clean from food spills and ash.
