Securing the egg

Hi all --

Long time lurker, first time poster.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I might secure my egg and table?  I cannot imagine how one would physically get this thing out of my tiny alley, but thieves in Baltimore are extremely crafty.  I would prefer to somehow secure the egg into the table, as moving that table out of my "patio" is an impossibility (brought it through the house, which is locked).

Thanks!

That is tiny.   That would be a lot of work to get that out.  I mean, you really need to disassemble it to remove it due to weight.   I think you are fine.  You do have insurance, right?

yeah, I do have homeowners.  I'm thinking of a chain to go through the handle when I'm not using it.  Its probably more of a deterrent/pain in the A than anything.

an alarm system might work, maybe wire it to the existing alarm in the house, if the area is that bad you should have one

If you really wanted to you could run the chain down through the top and out the bottom vent and then lock.   I still think it is easier to cut the chain then it will be to get the Egg out of the table and into their getaway truck.   :-))

"Security" ... is there really such a thing? You can only slow down a determined thief, you can't stop 'em!

How about running a cable through the hinge in the back of it, while yes they can take it off, it would still secure it to the unit,  The only other option that I would consider is to use a stainless steel cable small enough to not cause an issue with the seal but to go through the base and out the vent and lock the base down.

The other option you might want to consider is a full enclosure so it would look like a shed that would open when you want to use it and otherwise you can pad lock it shut.

    Good luck.

Maybe camo? It won't work forever for your neighbors, who will smell the smoke, and figure what you have. But I keep mine in nests under 55 gallon drum trash bags. Not very attractive, especially flapping around in the wind, but that is the point. Maybe for you just a tarp would be enough mis-direction.

Never have figured how to secure mine more. I also think most people just don't know an Egg is much more than an odd shaped grill.

Hinge.  That's the ticket.  done and done.
