Quick Question - Butt???

I went to a new local grocery store, they have nice "protein" counters and displays.
I bought some pork butts for pulled pork, overnight cook for tomorrow dinner. The butts still have the skin on and a can't remember if the previous one had the skin or not. I think the skin was removed because I recall seeing the fat... and also when I make sausage it didn't have the skin.
Should I remove the skin or keep it? What are the advantage of keeping the skin? What are the disadvantage of keeping it?
Does it change the taste? the cooking? the pulling? the texture?
I'm planing to document this one!
Thanks

I'm no meat cut guru, but are you sure that is a butt? I have never seen one with the skin on...

Sent my wife out for a butt last weekend and she came back with a picnic and it had the skin on. If it has bone on both ends and is more triangle shaped this is probably what you have. I took the skin off and cooked it the same as a butt.

After reading your comments and checking the label.....Pork Shoulder
PinicSo I did get a pinic rather than the requested butt. Next time I will pay more attention and read the label...
Thanks for your comments.Marc -
I have always done Butts.
