Hello out there in EggHead Land!
Hello folks! I'm new here and just became the proud owner of my own BGE this past weekend! I bought the BGE primarily for smoking purposes but plan on using it for most all of my grilling needs. Guess you could say I've come full circle....started out with a Weber Kettle many, MANY moons ago and you couldn't pry my charcoal grill away from me! "gas grills....NEVER!" Well then I got older and Weber came out with gas grill.... and things changed....AAHH the convenience of gas and "...it cooks just as good as charcoal!" Well, we all know that was just wishful thinking. Fast forward about 20 years and here I am! Did my first two items this past weekend (Ribs and Boston Butt). My wife was absolutely thrilled with the results and actually said it more than made up for the cost! I felt the results were ok but could have been better......no fault of the grill.....just a rookie at the helm! Looking forward to hanging out here and learning from all the EGGsperience that's available! All the best everyone!
Larry

Welcome ! You mentioned smoking and grilling, but just as wonderful is baking and woking (Chinese). You can also make the best pizza you've ever eaten. There's so much you can do, and we're here to help.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

Welcome Larry. Congrats on the new egg. I was the opposite of you. I started on Weber gassers cause charcoal was too messy and took too long t heat up. Then I got into low and slows and got myself a Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM). That did OK for a couple years, but I really wanted an egg. I saved up and bit the bullet a year and a half ago. I can count on one hand the number of times I have used my gas Weber and my WSM has not been used at all. My only regret is not pulling the trigger on the egg sooner.Post some pics of your cooks if you can. Your wife will look at you funny the first couple o times, but she will get used to it."Pork so tender you can pull it with a spoon." ~Spoon

After years of gas I bought my 1st and 2nd BGE last month. My wife and I were having fresh caught salmon cooked over alder wood chips in Alaska. It was absolutly terriffic. I told her I was going back to charcoal as soon as we got home.
I bought a large for home and another for our lake house. Now after feeding many of my friends they all agree there is nothing as good as charcoal.
