Last year we celebrated national filet mignon day ... but we were a bit late to get anyone else to celebrate with us. You can read about it on our blog here:

We are celebrating again tonight and if anyone would like to get on board and post their filet mignon dinner here, it would be fun to see what everyone creates!

    We celebrated National Filet Mignon Day for the second year in a row. We cut our own 2" filets from a beef tenderloin, coated them with salt, course pepper, and a home made spicy BBQ rub. Smoked the meat for about 15 minutes with one chunk of hickory on top of two small lump coals then transferred the steaks to a smoking hot cast iron plate to get a good crust all around until medium rare. Served up with some seared scallops dusted with tsunami spin dizzy pig rub ... zucchini carpaccio with fresh garden tomatoes ... and blended cauliflower with blue cheese, roasted mushroom olive oil, and La Bamba sauce (thanks little steven, we are almost out)!!! We topped the steak with a roasted garlic herb butter that we made prior to cooking. We truly enjoy cooking for many different holidays ... But National Filet Mignon Day has to be a favorite! Even our favorite kid Ebony was patient enough to enjoy a taste!
