Very Nice looking table.  I was planning on starting my table this weekend and was planning on a similar design.   What size is the granite / marble that your egg is sitting on?  Where did you find the granite / marble?  I am having trouble finding a size that works.
  • Under the egg is an 18x24 piece of granite, top piece is 18x18.  I had a local granite place cut them both out of a remnant.  Not cheap, but looks great and will handle the elements well.

Thanks,  I might have to do the same.

  • Hillstrom--if you scroll down a couple of posts on the table forum, you can see the table I built with a cheaper alternative-but not as nice looking as the one here. I used a marble pastry board for top of the table work area--cost about $30--and I bumped it up above wood table top so you could put hot pans/racks that hang over edge without burning the wood. Then, just used the concrete stone/pad from Lowes under the egg--about $4 or less.
  • This new forum is screwy, now it is not a couple of posts/threads down, it is near the top. Anyway, it is the one with "2 actually" in the title.
  • What did you finish the table with???

    Looks great! :)

  • Thanks! Finished table with Helmsman Spar, Semi-Gloss, three coats.
  • Let me know how the granite under the Egg does over time.  I've always been worried that granite wouldn't handle high heat.  The table is a beaut!

That is a great table, I used the whiz's as a start also, I just did it for two eggs ( i only have one now, but that will change)  I used granite and the Shoes that came with my Egg.  Had it now for about 9 months and have had no issues with the granite.  It sure looks a lot better then the two inch paver stone I started with.
