Made an ajustable grid and cooked some wings

Wanted to increase the capacity of my LG BGE.
Side view showing the height in the egg.
Then made wings for the first time. 400 dome direct. Cooked til skin was crisp. Wings were moist and very good.
Left side of pan: Wild Cherry Chipotle Rub with Uncle Kenny Mustard Sauce
Center of pan: Apple Chipotle rub and Garlic with Jack Daniels Original Sauce.
Right side of pan: Apple Chipotle rub with Uncle Kenny's Original Sauce.
The naked Wild Cherry Chipotle rub wings didn't make it long enough for the picture.
Did a taste test and the best ones in my opinion were the Wild Cherry Chipotle naked. Sweet as candy with a kick.

Looks great Dave, and a very nice homemade rig to boot. Nice workI raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

Hey! I made the exact some one, but I didn't think of the wing nuts. I may make that change.

How long are those bolts? Is it stable?

The bolts are 3/8" x 6". Everything is stainless steel and it is very secure and stable.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mine are 5 inches and very stable. I can set a drip pan on the lower grate or a pizza stone that I use for a plate setter, for now. The carriage bolts and the new grate were less than $20.00 at Lowes.

That sounds a little light on the price! MAKE SURE that you are using stainless hardware. DO NOT use plated hardware. Heavy metals used in plating are toxic!
:woohoo: -
Most Lowes and HD do NOT carry stainless in large sizes like this. I strongly advise you to NOT use that hardware. You are cooking poison.
-
Both home depot and Lowes carry stainless all thread and nuts. The hardest thing to find for me was stainless washers that big.
-
What size Grid did you get?
-
OH Lord, here we go with that stainless is poison BS again!! :P :silly: :side:

Other way around, dude! Stainless is good, steel plated with zinc or cadmium is bad. Maybe that's why the real Adjustable Rig, Woo, and Spider ARE made of stainless! -
Not to mention the new BGE's come w/ stainless grids, and oh yeah, my stainless skillets, roasters, stew pots, saucepans, but I suppose if you ate one of those stainless bolts it would possibly kill you   :woohoo:

Just use three bolts instead and it will always be stable with no wobble.
-
And that is a myth since the out gassing of those 'so called' materials happens at 2000 F. Your grid will not reach that so galvanized is just fine.
-
And you realize their reasoning right? It is shiny and looks better for sales.

Hmmm...post-1982 pennies are copper coated zinc and they are toxic. So why would I intentionally put this next to my food? Believe what you will. The risk/reward makes no sense. -
The grid measures 17" across.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
