Tried burgers a new way...

Someone on this forum posted a picture of a burger with a slice of onion formed into the top of the patty. I decided to try that for tonight's cook:

I started the burger onion side down, figuring that as it cooked the moisture released by the onion would flow up and flavor the meat above it. Seemed to work pretty well. (I also put some bacon on top of the meat, hoping the fat would render down. That was less successful -- especially when I flipped the burger over as the bacon promptly caught fire.)

This was one of the best burgers I've ever had. There was a nice char on the outside, a bit of smokiness, and the grilled onion was very good.

I toasted the buns, added some crispy shredded lettuce with a bit of ketchup and mustard; then I opened a frosty beverage to wash it down. Awesome!
