I love my local big box store called Menards and spend mucho dollars with them and get good value in return. With that said I have to tell you I laughed at that flyer that they distributed today advertising that crappy pos called a Avocado Ceramic Kamado Grill at $499 with the aforementioned comparison tag line. Once again the idea of comparing a pos to a BGE should be a compliment, but let's get serious folks...you can't shine sh*t!

Or, you can only polish a turd so much
Ridiculous though isn't it. -

LOL! :laugh:Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

Maybe, but it is still sh*t. I have also heard of it even being made into jewelry.
Gene, I am impressed by your team and your winnings. -
Love it!

Okay, a horse turd surrounded by roses is still a horse turd!

Thanks. We've had alot of fun so far with the comps. More than anything Heath and I get along so well (Auburn and florida jokes aside) and it seems that it is getting a little easier as we go.

wouldn't it then be called fertilizer?

even when you polish a turd, you still end up with **** on your hands... lol :woohoo:

boy-o-boy, this thread sure went to crap last night!
BTW I should have added the $499 price included a $150 metal stand, plus side tables, cover, secondary cooking grate, plate setter and ash tool!
Other than color it sure doesn't have an egg shape, but looks more like a garbage can with slightly rounded top and bottom.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -

Actually, Mythbusters did just that, shined some shiat. However, underneath the shiny surface, it's still fecal.Near San Francisco in California -
I have heard a polished turd referred to as an "Avocado Ceramic Kamado". Now I know why.

In spite of this thread having gone in the crapper I do want to add some observations from my on site inspection. Even with all the aforementioned accessories they throw in for $499 the quality is not there. The ceramics are very rough inside and out. I practically sliced my fingertips on the inside edge on a casting flaw that I didn't see in time. The exterior is very rough and it may not even be a glaze finish as it didn't feel like one. You could easily skin your knuckles if rubbed on the exterior. The only redeeming feature was the two felt gaskets were easily the thickness of maybe 6 BGE gaskets so the cushion was really thick...OTOH they were the same gray felt so their life is short. I found no literature but by overall cheapness and poor quality it screamed "a knock off from China".Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.
