Whiz, Congrats on the good PR. You're gonna need an agent. It will be interesting to see how many more hits you get on your website.

“I can do everything on my Weber kettle that you can do on an Egg for a fraction of the price,” said Charlie Hammond, who tends four metal cookers in his backyard in Mission Hills, Kan. He also argues that the damper systems on bullet-shaped metal smokers transfer heat by convection as well as kamado grills.
What was I thinking when I bought my egg? I knew I should have tried a 20+ hour pork shoulder on my weber! I'm sure the results would have been exactly the same. Next thing we'll be seeing you on a cover a tabloid walking hand in hand with Paris Hilton! -
Nice plug for your site Doug, did you notice a spike in traffic to it? -RP
-
Cool deal. I've used it to bust on friends with other cookers.
Surely good promotion for both BGE and the Whiz's site. -

As of 11:30am EST, the specific page they linked to has received about double the normal number of visitors. We'll see overall what happens tomorrow when I can see all the stats. The Naked Whiz

Did they speak to you via phone or email? Either way it was a good plug.

It is pretty clear The Weber Guy has never tried to cook a Thanksgiving turkey at 27* with the wind blowing. I have and let me tell you it is a real problem when the turkey gets done 9 hrs later than planned and there are 10 people waiting for dinner.

Thanks for sharing as this is a great article...and congrats on getting quoted and your website mentioned in the NY Times....

I was once at a hardware store buying some BGE lump. A guy in line behind started talking about grilling and the egg. He said the exact same thing to me as Charlie Hammond did above. That was when I ended our conversation. -
Doug,
Interesting thing was I was living in Raleigh at the time. I had to cover the Weber with burlap bags and drag it into the garage just to try to keep the temp up. I never want to do that again. -
As far as the comments from the Weber EVP, I get the too expensive, but "too complicated"? Really? it's more complicated than a Weber Kettle, or a gas grill with 6 burners and an Infrared burner?
-
Nice article, thanks for passing it along. and congrats on the mention.
I think Weberhead will never catch on. -
A few of you asked about traffic with this link from the NY Times. Well, the page they linked to, which is an index page of 6 different areas of my website, has had about 1000 hits so far. My ceramic cooker front page has only had about 800. So the index page is getting about 8 times the normal volume. The actual ceramic page is just getting the same traffic as a very busy day. Oh well....The Naked Whiz

I thought the piece was a little disjointed. Good to see the egg get some pub, but no one but a real BBQ buff would read that article.
-
Congrats on all accounts Doug...well deserved and you certainly deserve the recognition given the effort you put into the entire site..hands down the most informative ceramic site on the internet..Luv ya brother...
-
Awesome! Great article, and congrats on the recognition!

oh yeah, there was mention on "someone" from the forum...
