Rasing the grate?

I tend to use cast iron cookware now in my food cooking and prep for some stuff. My Egg with the place setter and the grate on top of it forces me to put the pan DOWN inside the Egg, making it very hard to position it where I want it. I would like to know if anyone has a solution to this problem. The only thing I can come up with is to buy another fire ring to sit on top for these situations. :blush:

    Another fire ring is a solution, they have 2" & 4". A few firebricks set on edge around your firering will do it also. You can also visit ceramicgrillstore and look at Toms adjustible rig.

    Here's an easy method.

    4 bolts, 8 nuts and 8 washers fastened to an extra grate. Or better yet, get the cast iron grate and then put the bolts on the stock one.

    I bought the 2LFR fire ring for my large its the 2" that is used in place of the 4" when you use a BGE 3 tier grate. It stays in my egg for all GRILLING cause it raises the grate to gasket level. I take the 4" out and use it alone with my Plate setter sometimes as it leaves more room for food in the dome.

    The 4" with the 2" on top is a good combo in my opnion.

    I just use 3 common red bricks. works for me and cheap.
