That is cool, but it's worth noting that anyone with the "older" Stoker can still get it on a wi-fi network if they want to. I've been using a Linksys wireless adapter with my Stoker for about 3 years now.
I would love to have it built-in, but I'm not planning to get a new one just for that bit of convenience.

I agree...I have been using mine for two years with no problem, but someone getting a new pit controller, this is great
Doing long slow cooks now is so easy and I don't worry when I am away from my Egg for several hours, because I can check the status from my phone or iPad -
I was looking at their web sight this morning before the new Wi-Fi ready units was announced. I didn’t order because I wasn’t sure I could get the unit by Friday. I’m glad I procrastinated, because I really like the looks of the new unit.

Looks the same to me.

I was going back and forth on a Stoker or Guru. But i think i am going to go order one of these. the built in wifi will be a nice addition. At least with this i wont have to buy anything extra if i do want to use it over the web.
-
is a $90 increase worth WIFI built in? Maybe, but that is a steep premium.
-
Will also control multiple cookers and multiple probes for the $90.
Just add a fan and probe as needed. Really is a good system.
I would still give Guru the heads up on customer service.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I just ordered mine last week and received it Friday. Would have liked the built in Wifi, but it is more expensive and I had an extra airport express. No regrets, the stoker is awesome.
-
That is a great way to go if already have the express. Might also get a little better range?
There are some very cool 2nd party programs for the Stoker as well.
You will like the Stoker if you like digital toys.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Not sure on the range. The egg is right on the other side of my access point wall.
I've been wanting one for some time now...
I love cool toys. Found a cool website that listed telnet commands for the stoker as well.

On a side note. Got some rain on my side of town this evening. Hope you did as well. -
Who is selling their old one?
-
I just received my Stoker a couple weeks ago. I see that the no longer offer the "old" version and only the WiFi version.
In my case I just bought this small WiFi N adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Universal-Adapter-Office-GWU627/dp/B004UAKCS6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310045821&sr=1-1
It was about $40 and is very small and compact. I could have went cheaper for a bulky router/bridge.
Seeing that they marked up the new unit $90 I'd be paying $50 for one extra port, the new weather-shield, and the color black. Not sure I'd like that fee imposed without the choice to build my own WiFi connection.
