I took a camera - I'll get some more pictures up after the rug rat is in bed. I've got a couple that my sous Anna took.

What a wonderful day. I would like to thank everyone involved, and especially the cooks for another great Eggfest.

This was only our (myself and wife) second one and look forward to many more.

    A few shots:

A Fantastic view. We sat there just taking it in for a while. Lived in TO many years ago and still love it there.

Not too many guest at 10 AM:

But it sure picked up after:

The first table had some beans and mentioned that they also have the recipe. I forgot to ask for it so I hope they post it here.

...but yes, great location. I liked the layout with the tables in front and lots of garbage cans so the place was very clean. Lots a sitting area to allow us to 'get away' from the crowd for a few minutes.

And a great magician doing his card tricks - nice touch, he was fantastic.

The store was well stocked, with a friendly helpful staff. Among other things, bought the BGE salt and pepper shaker, wife took possession and said they will make great X-Mas tree ornaments.

The only down side is that when leaving there were several young people boarding the ferry to the island in a party mode and they did not invite me! :(

The weather forecasters called for a VERY VERY RAINY DAY.

It started as an overcast day in the City of Toronto and it stayed that way.

    DSC_0163.jpg

Most of my pics are from very early in the day (from 1000-1200 hrs) so there weren't many crowd shots. (or for that matter food shots)

I believe all of the cooks experienced what we did. What ever we cooked up was scooped up just as fast as we put it out.

A little technical difficulty with the rye bread dough - just made the bannetons, they weren't seasoned yet so dough stuck with a vengeance.

Another very popular item - Marc (primeggister), Cluck and Squeal king - mixed his Cluck and Squeal rub with some Beemster cheese (similar to a gouda) and applied it to some dried figs that had a bit of honey drizzled in. After a brief time on the egg to get the cheese all melty - another drizzle of honey. Sweet, salty, cheesy - what's not to love.

Failed to get picture of the dark chocolate and walnut stuffed figs and the honey, danish bleu stuffed figs.

  • The guys at Dickson's (Mike and Rob) did a great job. Very well organized and they had a great helpful staff. It was great meeting the new Egg owners and meeting all the cooks. Hope all of you will enjoy the rub samples I was handing out.

Looking forward to next years fest, hopefully I will get a chance to cook. Although me and the chocdoc (Kerry) did Egg some stuffed figs with cheese, the All Purpose rub and honey. I think we are onto something Kerry! :woohoo:

Glad to see some old freinds and make anew. The folks at Dickson's really do a fantastic job. It was suppose to rain most of the day but egghead prayers limited the rain to just a few drops. A touch cool but we'll take it! They had about 200 attend last year and 300 for their second go at it. Personally, I see 500+ next year.
Glad ya'll had a good time eh?

I agree, the folks at Dickson's do a super job. As a sponsor, they were really hands on - involved.

I always felt like there was someone close by to provide hot water, cold water, more lump, etc.

An amazing touch was when a few rain drops appeared - they started distributing "emergency poncho's for everyone. " Good thing we didn't need them.

Like everyone said, another great fest and really got lucky with the weather again, it poured just 10 miles north of the city but we got just a few drops at the fest.

    Great pics Gary -

Where did you find the time to capture all of those great shots?

If you don't mind, I'm going to steal the samosa filling pics for FB.

Great shot of Steven with the CN Tower - technically, I think the CN wins by a hair but I could b wrong.

Kerry, great seeing you and Anna again and really appreciate the wiggle rod. Got to use it and what a huge difference compared to the skinny wire rod... it actually pushed the lumps instead of squeezing through the gaps between them. Love your cinnamon rolls and the chocolate walnut filled figs, missed out on the other goodies you made :( See you soon!
