I felt ambitious yesterday and made the following mod's.[p]I needed room to store my 2 pizza stones so I removed the 3 concrete round stepping stones I was using as a stand for my large egg and replaced them with this.[p][p]I had this piece of screening laying around. I use it to intercept hot coals on their way to my deck.[p][p]And to keep the egg from shifting around I took a piece of scrap hardwood, borrowed the neighbers bandsaw and made 4 'L' shaped wedges.[p][p]Toy Man

I like that idea also Banker John. I wonder if there is enough insulation in the egg to prevent the wood wedges from slowly toasting.

Alan P,[p]I'm betting that it would take a few years. Maybe less if you use "lava" temps frequently. Just make extras and use a good cooking wood (oak and cherry come to mind, since I have some of each left from woodworking projects), and if they start to char, replace them and toss the charred ones on the fire for smoke. [p]BOB

I have been using them about a month with no problems, just a slight browning where they touch the egg.[p]Toy Man
