I have only tried direct with a raised grid, so went with indirect tonight. 1/2 with rub and 1/2 with a sauce near the end. Turned out mighty fine!
My neighbor dropped by 1/2 way through the cook and mentioned it smelled mighty good. I was gonna share, but there was nothing left!

We cook most of our meals on the egg indirect. Not big fans of charred tips ( personal preference) . Great looking wings

Nah... not home grown. If I had home grown yard birds the kid wouldn't let me kill em that's for sure!

Nice! That is our preferred method for most all chicken! Indirect, about 400-425* dome (with drip pan), crispy skin, and perfect chicken! Nicely done! You are beginning to understand now grasshopper...There are several "correct" ways to cook things on the Egg. Just need to find the method you like best!

Thank you! I certainly do feel like 'grasshopper'. Every now and then everything clicks. Definitely gaining more confidence. Tomorrow is my first 'fest'. Loving the journey of a new Egghead. :silly:Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX. 2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

When you cook with the dome temp that high indirect, about how long does it take to cook the wings? Do you flip/rotate about half way through? -
Nicely done. I like them indirect too.
Which grate is that? It looks a lot wider than the stainless one.Food & Fire - The carnivorous ramblings of a gluten-free grill geek. -
