JB Weld and the DFMT

My DFTM fell off the other day and cracked off one the "ears" that hold the handle to the top. Can i use JB weld to repair it? the tube says its good to 600 degrees. I occasionally crank her up hotter than that for sears and pizzas. Will i melt the JB weld? Does the top even get that hot if the dome temp is say 650?

I did the exact same thing. I put the ear back on with JB Weld. Haven't had a problem since, and it's been more than 6 months.

I would think you should be fine. I don't think the "ear" is ever gonna see > 600 deg. You could always try to take it off when doing a high temp sear and use the bottom draft door alone to control the temp until you cool it off a little.

Like the others said, it will work fine. You don't need the DFTM during hi-temp cooks anyway

Same thing happened to me. JB Weld worked great. Still holding up after a few months. Good luck.

Same for me as well, Nd I put the DFTM inside the egg for cleaning after my cooks with no problems...
