"Florida was named on Easter 1513 by Ponce de Leon for Pascua Florida, meaning "Flowery Easter"" yet it didn't become the state of that name till 1845, 332 years later. I believe Easter used to be know as "The Feast of Flowers" as well. Poor old Ponce de Leon may not have graced us with such a nice name had he known at the time that it was going to be an arrow from a Florida indian that was going to have him pushing up daisies! Needless to say, he didn't find the fountain of youth here. :blink:
