What to get for a Large

Already have the medium and mini. Getting a large demo in July. What accessories do you think are "necessary" or fun to have. Already ordered the plate setter and baking stone. What is the difference between the spider and woo? Anything else I should know?

Patty, I have the woo3 and the adjustable rig and both are great but you have more options with the rig and spider. I would also get the sliding grid and the round 13 1/2"? drip pan.

Can you tell me about the drip pan.

A 16" wok fits perfectly in a Spider for some outstanding stir fry.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

Hi Patty,
I have a lot of CGS accessories, including the woo the AR, and the spider. If I were you I think I would get the AR rig because of its many options. I would also call Tom at CGS and tell him what you like to cook. He will discuss it with you and set you up with the best stuff for your needs and not try to just sell you a lot of product that you won't use.
E-mail me if you want to talk more about it. I will be in Cincy on the 6th or 7th for the summer. We need to plan a JJ's trip too! -
Hi Patty,
Get everything! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:SEE YOU IN FLORIDA, March 14th and 15th 2014 http://www.sunshinestateeggfest.com You must master temp, smoke, and time to achive moisture, taste, and texture! Visit www.bubbatim.com for BRISKET HELP -
I probably would not get a plate setter.
You should already a Thermapen
Must haves, in order:
. Adjustable Rig/Spider
. Maverick ET732
Nice to have at some point in time:
. Raised Grid from tjv to go ontop
. Stoker
. Dutch Oven (but I think you just got some of those)
Maybe:
. Medium Cast Iron Grid (for use on the spider in the large)
That's about it.

You've talked me into buying out the CGS. I'll talk to Tom about my priorities. I cook everything, and want to learn more. Yes, I'm up to my ars in DOs and CI.
So tell me this, are there different sizes of Large BGEs? I know some change a bit from year to year. My mini changed so before I take the plunge for accessories, have there been any changes in the Lg this past year or two. I can guess the demos are the older models if there are any. -
No, I have not heard of any changes at all except for higher prices and a better thermometer
-
I got a Large Demo last week and to me it looks like the new model with the newer Firebox.
-
This might be a dumb question: Having a Medium and a Mini, how are you going to use the Large ? As your "Main" Egg" ?
Mazel Tov on your upcoming additon.

Not dumb at all. I never thought I'd want a lg, but I want to do some serious dutch oven and cast iron cooking. Large holds more equipment than the medium that is very limited. I got the Med last June and within two weeks ordered the Mini. Med was too big for me alone, but now I want to expand my repertoire.
The mini and med are still the basics for me. Tonite I did a half pork roast, bunch of asparagus and pound of carrots all on the Med. I also want to do stews, etc at fests. -
When you get the large you can cook a whole pork roast, 2 bunches of asparagus, and 2 pounds of carrots and we will stop in for dinner.
I forgot baklava for desert please. -
I accept that challenge and expect you here before school resumes. There are 380 witnesses on line.

I guess a trip to AAA for a Trip Tic might be in the near future.

The Pgh fest is the last Sat of July, only 20 mins from me. And I'm opening the pool on Thursday. What more can I tempt you with?
-
that sounds like a plan...
-
Hehehehe, gotcha.
-
Patty, these stainless drip pans are great.
