OT Land or water turtle?

Just found this little guy out by my egg and wanted to make sure it isn't a water turtle because there aren't any lakes very close. Anyone know if this is a tortoise? Don't kmow if I should drive him to a lake or put him further out back.

Looks like a tortoise to me, but I'll ask some people I work with that would actually know what they are talking about.

i would set him back down near wherever you got him. he got there by himself, so he isn't very far from home to begin with

yeah. plus, it it WERE a water turtle, and he's smart (or stupid) enough to survive on a deck, we should let nature take its course anyway :laugh:

Learned this recently with my 4 year old.

A Turtle lives in water and has flippers

A Tortoise lives on land and has Feet

A Terrapin looks like a Tortoise as it has feet but lives near water.

What you have looks like what people call a "Box Turtle" but is technically a Tortoise.

Leave it on land.

From the head technician of our exotics service:

It is an juvenile eatsern box turtle, probobly 1-3 years old.
I would release it where he found it on a rainy day.
