Car Wash Mike's Ribs...Question

I think this is a stupid question but I don't want to mess up my first go at ribs...In the recipe for Car Wash Mike's Ribs it says to use fruit woods but there isn't any note to soak the chips/chunks...does that go without saying? Are there any times when you shouldn't soak the wood chips/chunks? Thanks for the help everyone!

Eddie

No need to soak the chips or chunks...pretty much not ever necessary in the egg.

Fidel, why don't chips/chunks need to be soaked? Inquiring mind wants to know.Large, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

There's not enough oxygen in the egg to allow them to ignite, so they smolder.
If you soak them all that happens is the water will steam off and then they will smolder. You'll get the same amount of smoke from them either way. -
Use chunks, don't soak. Works for me. Some use chips spread out through the lump, works for them. The Egg makes it easy, don't over think it ;-)

Soaking wastes water. Chips or chunks.
