I went back to Salado to pick up my birthday gift to me.
I needed one for traveling so I got another medium. I thought about getting a small but I already have all the toys for a medium so what the heck.
Later on in the day my wife gives me this.
Then my wife nephews show up with this
This will be great for traveling and cook outs/ tail gating.
Thanks for looking.

Very nice. Happy Birthday to you!

What is the purpose of the grate/stone with the edges chopped off? Increased convection?

It one of the new stone and grid from the Ceramic grill store. I going to use it for cooking ribs and brisket. I won't have to foil the ends any more. with the stone shape like this it will give the end pieces protection. I will get a long cake pan for the drip pan.
