First time ahi tuna ...and a turtle

Never did tuna...got this for $12.99 lb at the local market. Have no idea whether that's a good deal or not! ?? :silly: It had a light coat of sesame oil, sesame seeds, tsunami spin and salt and pepper. Was a little nervous at doing the pink thing, but followed forum advice and it was delicious! Got a triple thumbs-up from Dave! I failed to get a shot of it on the egg, but here it is. Cooked about 500 for a couple minutes each side. I will do it again! The turtle was a snapper I saw on the way home last night; I was worried he was gonna get squashed on the road but I was not about to pick him up! :ohmy:

Man, that looks fantastic...I love tuna. For good sashimi grade tuna, that's a really good price. I pay nearly $20/lb at Whole Foods locally.

I haven't cooked a salmon yet but, If I do I want to do it like you have here with the light coat of sesame oil, sesame seeds. :P :P
I could eat sesame seeds by the hand full. :P

Richard, I used to eat turtle when I was a kid; I remember my dad and mark trapping them. It's been so long I don't remember the taste but don't have a vivid memory of NOT liking them...

Great lookin' meal, Julia!! Love seared tuna. Been way too long since I've had it. Sesame sounds good too! Not to mention grilled asparagus!
