Woosday - New Toy

I purchased a new lens for my DSLR this weekend. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
I take a lot of pictures of family (mostly the little ones), which means a lot of movement, and usually not ver good light. The kit lens for my camera has a much smaller maximum aperture at 50mm...5ish, so this new lens should allow me to shoot much faster in lower light. It's also clearer than my other lenses. And at $140...

And it also obviously allows more control over depth of field.

And yes, I cleaned my grate before I cooked on it.

But mostly I got it for the family portraits. This photo wouldn't have been usable, if I had had to use a flash.

Okay, so it's woosday...here's a flower pic. Pear tree in front of our condo. Taken with my 18-55mm zoom (kit lens), earlier in the afternoon, the day I later went out to buy the new lens.
