Hinge upgrades question

Guys,
Got an older medium egg with the "scissor hinge" style hinges and it's time to replace. I'd like to replace with the new style spring assist but I'm hearing that they "may or may not" fit the older eggs with the seam. Does anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone modified the new hinges to make them fit on an older egg? Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks

Call the Mothership and ask them.

    Don't do it!

I'd put a scissor hinge on my "modern" large in a heartbeat, if I could. I've made every adjustment I can find on the forum and other resources, and it still falls.

I think someone has lined a new style band for a mini with a felt gasket. Help eliminate the size difference.

 Do you have both springs on your hinge?
