repairing firebox with jb weld

I've repaired a firebox with JB Weld. It now holds together, but the cracks are still visible. Should I smooth some more JB Weld into the cracks or just leave them?
Should I do a low temp fire empty before a real cook?

It is not necessary to smooth as long as there is a good bond. Let set overnight and cook as usual.

Just leave them

Isn't the firebox covered under the lifetime warranty?
The reason I ask, is that mine is cracked as well -
I believe that it is covered, but with 4 eggs have never needed to wonder. The one I repaired was used when I bought it and many fireboxes crack and eggers use them for years without jb welding or replacing.

I used JB Weld numerous times on my firebox. It holds for a few cooks then dissapears after some high temp cooks. A year ago I got a replacement firebox thinking mine was beyond repair (5-8 pieces). I am still using the broken one and it is holding up fine. Someday I will replace it but the old one just keeps going and going.

Leave it and spend the time enjoying you next cook.
