I just wanted to say that I experienced a flashback for the first time tonight and it blew the metal top off the egg. I had no idea it was that powerful. I needed to bake off some crud on the inside from tonights salmon and got it really hot then shut her down. Totally forgot about the video I watched on Whiz' site. I thought I jerked my recently surgically repaired shoulder back out of socket when I jumped back. Just thought it was kind of cool.

Also, don't stand in front of the bottom vent or you will burn your legs. Ever see a 5 foot flame shoot out of the bottom vent? Best not to. :(

I was wearing shorts when it happened and it almost made me change my name to bare legged swampman. I probably would have seen the flame that shot out of the bottom if it had been darker outside. I know I felt it.

Had a pretty powerful flashback last night myself. I was cooking a steak, and after searing for a few minutes, I shut her down. I burped it a bit when opening back up, but apparently I didn't burp it quite enough. WOOOOOF. I lost a lot of length from the hair on my right arm (and burnt hair does stink), but other than that, no harm done.
But, at least the steak was juicy and delicious.
I'll give it a better burp and open it more gradually after burping from here on, especially when I have a bunch of really hot coals in an oxygen starved egg. -
Maybe if you could give me the procedure for getting a whopping good Flashback out the bottom vent, I could make a movie, LMAO!The Naked Whiz

You might try not burping, but rather take the dual function metal top off, open the bottom vents, wait 10 seconds or so and then slowly lift the lid.The Naked Whiz
