OT:....Tomatillo growing question

I've never grown tomatillos before. I was told to plant two plants one foot apart to get good germination. My question is do they need a trellis or basket for support like a tomato plant? -RP

I will be planting them for the first time this year also. They resemble tomato plants so my guess is that they will need some type of support.

I have grown them for years and they get very tall and spindly. You should use a trellis or cage. Don't be afraid to cut them back to keep them full and bushy. Heavy fertilizer once the flowers set.

Picked up 1 yesterday, too. Nursery man talked about how prolific the plant was but never mentioned needing more than 1
