camera blacking out

when taking pictures with snow or ice glare is it normal for parts of the screen to black in an out or is the camera about to die. never noticed it til this year. a white spot here and there will turn black and then back again here and there. nikon d60

    Many things it could be. Most likely the light meter is letting you know that bright white area is "blown out" or over exposed. That is what I think. Or bad dust on sensor that show at high Fstops or it is a sign that you have some dead or dying pixels on the sensor. That can happen quickly if you take direct shots of the sun which they don't recommend. If the black spots show on photos downloaded to computer it is the latter, if not then it is simply the light meter letting you know that shot has over exposed areas

    thanks, probably just the exposure from the white glare, just never seen it before, it it continues into the summer might be time to take it in for a cleaning
