I have made the decision to order my Egg on-line. I think I have also decided to use hearthside distributors.[p]My question is:[p]Has anybody used them? How was their service? [p]Thanks![p]Joe

    eggecutioner,
I have absolutely no affiliation with Hearthside. I did however buy my large egg from them about 2 months ago. They shipped the egg out the same day I ordered and I received it in 3 days. It arrived in perfect condition, packaged well, with all the accessories I also ordered. In short, I was extremely pleased.

    eggecutioner,
bought one from them 2.5 years ago. when it comes in inspect it well before accepting order. mine came in with a totally busted pallet, but everything was ok. have had replacement issues on a few parts but did it with a local distributer and had no problems as well as buying direct thru bge. at the time i ordered the large, the dealer near me was not service oriented, ive had several problems with him in the past onunrelated bge issues and will not go back, but ive found a newer dealer that is much more helpful. hearthside was about 250 cheaper and the delivery was free at that time, dont know if they charge for it now.

  • CentralPork,[p]Call and negotiate with Hearthside, you should be able to get a good deal if you are tough about it. Good Luck.

Smokedout,[p]Have you bought from them?[p]Did you Negotiate with them? For the price eggcessories? Bag-o-lump? Shipping? what?[p]Thanks for the tip![p]Joe[p]
  • eggecutioner,[p]I bought my large BGE from them and was able to negotiate a very good deal on the egg plus accessories and shipping. The bottom line is that, even though they no longer offer free shipping, you should be able to work a deal that is their posted prices on everything but paying very little or nothing for shipping. If you can pick the stuff up at the fedex terminal near you, you should be able to do even better. If you have a big SUV (expedition size) or pickup you should be able to fit a large bge in it. Good luck!

Smoked out,[p]Even if you have a trailblazer or smaller, you can get the thing home. I've moved them by unpacking the box and putting each item in my car and taking it that way. No moving the whole thing, so one person can do it alone. [p]

    eggecutioner,
I did speak with Hearthside Distributers while I was trying to decide where to buy my egg. While I did find Hearthside to be cheaper (approx. $175 plus tax) then my local distributer I did not make my purchase from them. My reasoning behind this decision was that while I would save myself some money I just got a warm and fuzzy feeling about purchasing from someone that if there was a problem now or in the future I could go to them and resolve this face to face. In addition they have provided me all kinds of good tips and are delivering my egg and table and then they are going to fully assemble both units on my patio. While assembling the table and the egg pose no challenge it is nice to know that this will be no arguments regarding assembly if there is a problem. They also guarentee a tight seal on the gasket (again this should not be a problem) and I just like to knowing that my hard earned money (even though I am retired) goes back into my local community. Just my own opinion for what it is worth.

Everyday is Saturday and tomorrow is always Sunday.
  • Mark- Good call on unpacking first[p]RR- You make some excellent points. I tried to work with my local dealer and was willing to pay $150 more to buy from him for the reasons you outlined, but he was unwilling to work with me so I went mail order. I have been buying some accessories and lump from my local guy because I do want to support his business.

Retired Railroader,[p]I Really agree![p]I did try to work with a local guy. Actually several local guys. I was posting about it a couple weeks ago. In fact there was a post before me that gave some real encouraging words in this forum about having a local dealer. So I tried going that route. [p]It just hasn't worked out that way for me.

Bobby-Q,[p]I stand corrected. One can pickup a-l-o-n-e a Large BGE in anything as big or bigger than a convertible mustang. [p]Do I hear an Escort?

    Mark Backer,
WellI seatbelted mine into the front seat, so anything that would hold a pretty decent sized dude should work.
