I have had my egg for two years and all of the sudden the lid will not shut correctly. What should I try first?

check the hinge bolts,,, loosen them then close the lid. If that works just snug them back,, don't overtighten,,

I agree - sounds like the dome has slipped down in the hinge band.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I dropped it trying to go up the step not as bad as it looks just bent the band and eggmates, broke the firebox and cracked the fire ring. The dome and the base were fine.

I'll bet the pucker factor in that split second the egg was falling was excruciating! Glad to hear the damage wasn't too bad though!Large BGE and a couple non-greenies
