The only rub I have used thus far is a brand called Bayou Barq, which I reall enjoy. Everybody on here semms to really like the Dizzy Pig and I'd like to try it. I see there are several Dizzy Pig rubs to choose from. Can yall give me some input on which is a good choice to start with? The Bayou Barq is both mildly spicy and sweet at the same time. Any input on which Dizzy Pig rub to order and where from?

www.dizzypigbbq.com I really like the Raging River and the Cow Lick. It will definitely complement your rub cabinet along with the Bayou Barq.
-
Wised One, are you a fan of the Bayou Barq?
-
I agree with the Ragin River, and I think it's their best selling one. I also like the Tsunami Spin for chicken and fish. These two would be a good start.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
3 Large, 1 Small, 1 well-used Mini -
You can order a sample pack on the DP website.
The ones I have to replace the most are Raging River & Shakin the Tree (we eat a lot of salmon and chicken)
For steaks I use Raising the Steak and sometimes Cowlick.
I use all of them at different times for different cooks. They are really that fresh and good! :woohoo: -
I use it and Dizzy Pig for about 99.9% of my cooking. I also own (and proudly wear) two Bayou Barq T-shirts. Chris' Dizzy Pig T-shirts are really nice as well but I'm yet to get one of those.

Cow Lick on any cut of beef makes me smile!!

I would have to with Ragin River and Tsunami Spin if I could only have two. They are very original. My next would be the Dizzy Dust.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

Thanks, folks. For starters, I ordered Dizzy Dust, Dizzy Dust Coarse, Ragin River & Cow Lick. I now have an account set up, so I'll be back to try the rest before it's all over. The one thing I have found about the BGE........its obvious advantages are for grilling, but, like a boat, it is an otherwise large hole into which one can pour money!!
Thanks again. -
sounds good to me, the value on my boat has way outpaced my 401 over the last 20 years  one of the best investments ive ever made.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
I know what you mean, friend, and THAT is pretty damn sad!!
-
I haven't tried pineapple head but all the rest are really good. Dizzy Dust is always a great rub and a good place to start if you only want one. Make sure you order his sample pack. Then you can pick and choose. Don't limit yourself only to the suggested meats. As an example I really like dizzy dust on eggs.

Hell, I'll give that a try, too!! Thanks, Grampaw. BTW, enjoyed your repost of FAQ's for newbees. Learned a lot from vent setting pics. Most informative. Thanks.

I've liked them all!
The ones I use the most:
Tsunami Spin
Dizzy Dust
Cowlick
But really like the others too!! -
Just get one of each. You will eventually try them all any way, so why not save on shipping?
My least favorite of the line is the Red-Eye Express. But I have been told that it's just me.
As for my favorite? It changes from day to day. Cow Lick, this week.

I've only ever had the raging river on salmon. I really like it.
I just ordered one of everything.... can't wait for it to get here.context is important -
They should be here for next weekend.....looking forward to giving them a try.
-
Gotta get something relatively tame. Spicy doesn't bother me, but grandkids always share the fixins.....so gotta keep there tastes in mind.
-
I haven't gotten to the salmon yet.........but ordered some Ragin River for the inaugural salmon grill.
-
Sophie,
No complaints here. :woohoo:
The Dizzy Dust and Raising the Steaks get hit pretty hard here and now that I'm making Cow Lick chili once a week (every week) I need to stock heavily in that too. You may consider the sampler pack to test run them all. -
I used for last nights dinner,
Ragin River on Salmon
Pineapple Head on baked apples
Jamakin Fire Walk on sweet potatoes
Shak'in the Tree on grilled asparagas
you decide. -
That ought'a handle a lot'a cookin!!
-
I am getting the picture that another order is around the corner.
-
i concur!...they are all fantastic!...... i can't use any other product....i can't tell you a favorite.... we all have different perceptions of what tastes good to us.... rr
