I got a mini! I got a mini!!

Been looking for one, finally went to my dealer and he had none in stock but could order one for me. Well we checked on the price to write up the order and he informed me that BGE had a price increase on their products. He gave me the current price and we both just about fell on the floor. The current price for the mini is now $379.00. Well needless to say I was not wanting a mini that bad and we both could not believe that the price had gone up that much. Anyway, I came back home and just decided to check ebay and found one there for a current bid of $225.00 and bid $260.00 on it. It was brand new in the box (never opened) and included a BGE bag of charcoal, ash tool, grid lifter, and the Base that is used for the chimenia and mini. It was a pick up item only and was about 60 miles from my home. I was very surprised that my bid was the highest and that I now own a mini! This was just to good to be true. Picked it up today, put it together and it is just beautiful. The seller had won the package in a golf outing last fall and was not into grilling or the BGE. Now the question is, What to cook on it because it is just so small. I think this is going to be a learning experience. Just doesn't seem to hold much charcoal. Any advice? :cheer:

    Wow that's a great deal. congrats!! I just got mine recently and my first cook was bacon wrapped filet's. It did a fantastic job. Also if you have a fire brick it will fit under the grid and you can cook a 1/2 chicken which was my second cook. Others can chime in and I'm sure they will. Congrats and welcome to the mini group. :)

    STEAK! :) A good rib-eye, about 1-1/2 to 2 inches thick.

    T-Rexed to a rare-medium rare.

    While I don't have a mini, there are a bunch of mini eggsperts on the forum. I'm sure you will be able to figure alot of things that you can do with your new toy. Congrats on the find.
    I raise my kids, cook and golf.  When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
    Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

    Congrats on the mini. It is great for 1-2 people! 2-3 chicken parts, 1-2 steaks, 2-3 chops, veggies, a spatched cornish hen. Check out some of Florida Grillin Girl's mini cooks. She's the mini QUEEN!!

    Plus, it fits in my fireplace so I can cook most things all winter long without freezing my butt off!! :)

  • Lots of good ideas and directions to go. I do have a large BGE and have had it for about 5 years, now it's just my wife and I and sometimes the Large seems just to much so I'm looking forward to the mini. Thanks again to all and for all the good advice and info sites.

    Unless it was purchased from an authorized dealer,...sadly there is no warranty.
    If you look on the BGE homepage, it states that all internet sales void the warranty.

    the 1st and only time I have ever cooked on a mini was at a tailgate party for the ATL Falcons. I bought this mini for my sister so she let me at the helm for it's 1st tailgate. We loaded that thang up with 6 potatoes, a small tenderloin and a kielbasa. We did all this cook at once. Meat on top and the taters piled up like bowling pins. I'm sure we could of gotten more on the thing, but we didn't. Good luck and don't talk yourself out of a potential cook.

  • you're right, it doesn't matter.
    anything I need-warrantee or no- my dealer charges S&H on. that drives up the price of heavy stuff substantially! (that reminds me- I need a new platesetter!)

    Hey, Enjoy the mini! Part of the fun is the challenge of cooking on a small cooker. You should get the mini kim woo ring (or whatever it's called)or buy an extra grid and build yourself a raised grid for the little guy. I do most of my Mini cooks on the raised grid.
