Wife put a flank steak and chicken breasts in same bag to marinade for tonights fajitas. My concern is that the flank steak now needs to be cooked longer than I would normally to achieve some internal heating of meat after having been exposed to the chicken.
Any thoughts from food safety expert types would be greatly appreciated?

I think you're fine....if you're like me, the Flank Steak will go HIGH heat. Some of the safety nazi's may disagree...

To much hype going around on the chicken bacteria issue, risk = very limited. My two cents. If you google it, you'll be cooking you flank steak to 140 minimum...I say don't change your cook, disclaimer...I do not hold a degree in food science.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Not enough hype here. Wife and daughter got REAL sick when doing chicken breasts in the oven. Now NOTHING EVER goes unwashed and unsterilized that has touched raw chicken.
Once sick never forgotten. -
Dave, You should look at this.

The exterior of that steak should hit 165 for 15 seconds.Molly

Last nights cook worked out fine. I did decide to go hot and quick rather than smoking, but tasted great, and no gastro issues with folks today. Dont think I will make this mistake again though....
Thanks to all that responded. -
