OT Balsamic pickled onions

I was at a Kroger store yesterday that has a great Mediteranian bar that included balsamic pickled onions. From what I could find from a Google search, they are apparently made with a small, flat Italian onion. They are FANTASTIC! Has anyone had any luck making something similar?
BTW, they had $4.99 whole boneless ribeyes!

They are called cipollini onions and I get them from a mediterrean deli also. The un-marinated I find at a local fresh veggie stand. They are very tastful marinated or sauted to go with a steak.

I think Richard meant cipollini - if you have a Whole Foods around you, they should have them there. I roasted them with balsamic vinegar before and thought they were quite good. Pickling them in the balsamic sounds like an awesome idea. Will definitely do that at some point!

that got me thinking( scary eh?.).... has anyone made balsamic pickled eggs?... or does anyone here have a favorite recipe for pickled eggs in general.... red or white.... i like either.... i have not made them in decades!.....( yikes! i 'm turning into a geezer!)....lol..... thanks! ranger ray
