The Full Snow Moon
Gator Bait
Posts: 5,244
Tonights full moon, the Full Snow Moon.
"Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February’s full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult." (http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon-names/)
Have a good night ALL,
and keep warm,

Thanks Molly, I thought you would like it. I use a local weather site that is privately owned. THIS is his moon phases page. I can't guess why the Old Farmers Almanac says otherwise. That's strange. It sure looks full to me!!!

Thanks Leroy, I was looking at the weather your neck of the woods on THIS page. Half way down the page it shows a full moon again tomorrow night (???) but it also looks like your clouds are hanging in there. Ah well, maybe next month. :cheer:

George Bailey: What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.
Mary: I'll take it. Then what?
George Bailey: Well, then you can swallow it, and it'll all dissolve, see... and the moonbeams would shoot out of your fingers and your toes and the ends of your hair... am I talking too much? -
Hey Molly,
The Weather Underground shows a Full Moon for both nights! Interesting!

Blair, once again, thank you for sharing. What a beautiful moon we have. We're fortunate Earth has a moon. Just imagine how busy you would be if you lived on Jupiter.
-
"I know, I know. Your calendars all show the full moon happening on the 18th. That’s technically true, but for many in the U.S, Canada and South America, the moment of fullest moon happens early tomorrow morning. For the Central time zone, this occurs at 2:35 a.m. Friday, much closer to tonight than tomorrow night."

Thanks Rebecca, I agree, Jupiter would be a challenge! You never ever get to see out past all the clouds and the gravity keeps you about as tall as postage stamp!

We have one right now but ours is smaller. Must be because we're 1,072.2 miles further away than yours(as the RV flys).

Ours kinda looks like Jackie Gleason :(

Thanks Blair!!
What a great pic and meaningful explanations -
All ways look forward and appreciate your pics. Cloudy hear so no good view on the run home this morning. :( Good thing is it's in the 50's instead of the teens like last week. Much nicer and my carburetor don't try to freeze up!

Thanks, Glad you like it.

Jupiters moons are amazing even from here.

Very nice. Here is the best I've been able to do. I was out with the intent to capture an image of Saturn but the extreme cold kept from fiddling long enough to get it right so I just got a few of the moon instead. This is from a few weeks ago.
