Hope This works...Cause it's making me nuts
I inherited a dog that feels he MUST mark everything!!
And, has gotten into marking my Egg
I know that if could catch him at it, the whiffle ball bat would do the trick, but I haven't been able. He is sneaky about it.
Brainstorming this morning, I've devised an Anti-Pi$$ Shield.
It's wired up to the fencer for the garden....

once I did something similar to keep squirrels and coons from climbing up a large bird feeder, and it worked fine. Then my retired engineer neighbor couldn't believe it worked so he had to touch it. Well it worked and he p*ssed his pants! HONEST! :woohoo:

  • It would be great if you had a video surveillance camera you could aim at that spot!
    Might be quite entertaining!

  • That's genius. As someone who has worked with dogs you will probably need to catch him in the act a few times and make your corrections right then. Good luck.

    BRILLIANT!
  • What people won't do to establish territorial ownership...

If that doesn't work, just pee on your Egg yourself.

Spring "Pissession Is Nine-Tenths Of The Law Of The Jungle" Chicken
  • I have empirical evidence that says otherwise.

As a boy, I thought it would be a good idea to pee on my granddads electric fence. It should be noted that I only did it once, and then only ever so briefly.
  • You know he's going to be "pissed"!
  • Yes...I know this, but haven't been able to "catch in the act" Thus..the electridity!
  • Sure...You can be my friend!!
  • I know, I know.....
I may need to just "let go".
But, after all it is "MY EGG", but be damned.....
Even if I piss on it, he will to. Then what???
  • Thanks....I thought so too...
    We'll see??

    how close were you?

believe it or not, we had to watch these odd industrial films about toilet design, that included weird strobes studies of god knows what.

it's all about proximity. you (a standing dude) can get close enough to whizz on the fence, but it wouldn't work on the lower string.

the stream breaks into droplets (due to surface tension) at any decent distance.

if that dog gets close enough, and doesn't move, maybe he will get a shock.

check out the mythbusters. they actually did an experiment with this. the host whizzing on a an electric fence. but you need to try... and you need to be close. top wire much better chance than the lower wire, etc.

dunno how big his dog is. hahaha
if he has a chihuahua (who is close tot the contraption because he's short), and the chihuahua is a 'big' dog, with careful aim, he might just singe his unit as planned

  • I don't remember any details of how far the wire was. My only memory was the pain, and a note to myself never to do it again.

What you said about Mythbusters makes sense, but I know from first person experience that you can get a good jolt with the right conditions.
