Is there a difference in quality in Royal Oak for the 5lb and 10lb bags?

I never saw a 5lb bag,, just make sure it's made in america the south american lump will spark a lot
-
And I have never seen a 5 lb bag.
-
There should not be. I've always used Royal Oak but have been unhappy recently as the last few bags have sparked and popped an unbelievable amount. It never used to do it this much, so I am not sure what changed. I have bought the same red bag from Wally world that says made in the USA.

About 5 pounds.

If both bags contain made in USA lump there should not be any difference between the 6# and larger bags. Never seen a 5# bag and yes Rich is correct.
Royal Oak = Korger = BGE and some other private label brands. The RO rep will tell you which labels are there bran in your market area but not other places. The above labels are available in this area.
Call Royal Oak and ask them... and then let us know.

Royal Oak website says they make a 5, 8.8, 10, and 17.6 pound bag! I also would have thought that a 5 LB bag might be charcoal, and not lump, as I have never seen one. Spoiled by Wally, I guess..... and RO is all I have used for last year, and would not consider switching....
BullyQue, can you expound on where you saw a 5 LB bag? Just curious. I think you could reasonably expect it to all be about the same, although a 5 LB bag would struggle with a few of the pieces I have poured out of my last 10-bag find... -
Any one out there know where to buy royal oak in central ohio any help would be appriciated thanks

I am not in Central OH but - Wal-Mart should have it. Some posters say that their Wal-Marts put it away during the winter season.
Out here in Southern CA, it is available all season in the Garden Department. I think they are in 10 pound sacks, but I forgot how much I paid. I don't store a lot of it, since the store is just 5 minutes away.
You might already know this, but - check the Naked Whiz's review of charcoals - lots of brands from all over:
Poke around in his website - lots of good info:

Paid about $6.50 at WalMart here.
-
They have it at a Fred's where I live in 5 pound bags during the season. Wal Mart has it year round in the 10lb bags but it is nice to just to have less than a mile rather than dealing with the crowd at Wal Mart.
-
RO only sells the 10lb. bags here.
-
It is said that every Wal-Mart in every part of the county carries it and for the same price of $6.37 (I think that was the price).
We have it year round here....Even when it's -40 F. -
$6.37 for a 10lb bag at Wal-Mart here - halfway between Cincy and Dayton. Between two different stores, one or the other has had RO all winter so far.
-
Same price at Wal-Mart here in northern Virginia. Just bought 30 pounds last week. I also am one of the lucky ones who can buy Wicked Good from the hardware store on the corner, but the RO is so consistent, predictable and cheap that I stopped using the accurately named Wicked Good after just one 25-pound bag. WG runs about $1/pound here; RO is about 65 cents.

Found it. Thanks to all.
