I've got a 6 lb. pork butt I'm going to smoke this Sunday. This seems a little small to try and do overnight. Any estimates on how long it will take?
thanks in advance!

Assuming 250 dome, 6 to 12 hours.

At 250*, probably 10-12 hours.
At 300*, probably 8-10 hours -
At 250 I figure 2 hours a pound and 1 to 4 hours resting in cooler. The 2 hours per pound has always been within 1 hour for me, (mostly on the short side)as long as the temp stays at 250.

Also I have never cooked one smaller than 8 pounds and never less than two at a time. I figure I am burning lump might as well cook more and freeze it.

Assuming 250 dome, the smaller butts come in at just under 2hr/lb for me.

One trick you can use is wait 'til the butt crosses 180, and raise the temp at that time if you need to speed things up a bit. Good instructions on thirdeyes site
