Celebrated with a "Rosca de Reyes" or "Kings Cake" traditionally eaten on January 6, during the celebration of the Día de Reyes (literally "Kings' Day"). The Mexican “rosca de reyes” has an oval shape. For decoration, people use dried and candied fruits like figs, quinces or cherries.
The tradition of placing one or several figurine dolls of the Christ Child inside the cake is followed. Whoever finds it must take it to the nearest church on February 2, Candlemas Day (Día de la Candelaria), which celebrates the presentation of Jesus in the Temple, also has to make a party that day.
This ones had a great time......................& each got at least 1 figurine
Got my new Mini bands & hinge installed, works much better now, TKS to Darian (Photo Egg) for getting it for me & Mike (Lawn Ranger) for the Handle.
Cranked the Large as well, nice to see the bougainvillea this time of year...no frosts so far...
The miniature mandarines are also still perfect & at hand's reach from the table, to go with the tequilas... :woohoo:
Here an unusual white bougainvillea
Some Baby Backs comming out of the large.......... Car Wash Mike's style smoked with Molly's apricot wood chunks.
Wish they had had more meat on them......... :( Accompanied with Loren's sweet potato frites & coleslaw..The taste was good & hot
A great time was had by all................

Hello Beli,
I always love you posts. I get to see a little sun. We had a Rosca at our house last night. We were visiting my in-laws in Reynosa over the holidays and my wife got back last yesterday. Her family has a bakery and she brought one back with her. We also had Tomalles, hot chocolate with Mexican chocolate and some frioles soup. We read the following link because we had some friends over from Asia and Columbia and knew this would be new for them. I also learned a few things. By the way. I need to throw the party.

Looks like it was a lovely day. Everything looks pretty and lush so I'm sure the weather has been great there.
The ribs look meaty enough in the pics. As usual, Loren makes some wonderful side dishes.
From your post title, I thought when I opened it, there would be you and 2 male friends of yours posing after drinking some really nice bottles of red! See what you have us all trained to think now??
Have a lovely holiday Beli, to you, and yours!Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Hey TKS Molly...actually just learned there are 2 variations with the new Mini's hinge....a 2 arm & a 1 arm ....is there any functional difference??? what do you think??
-
Huh, didn't know that. I have the one arm. Mine seems pretty sturdy. Seems a two arm is over kill? Like the wood flavor?Molly
