Big Green Egg - EGGhead Forum - The Ultimate Cooking Experience...
We’re feeling pretty super, how about you? The big game is fast approaching, and while we love football, we love an excuse to invite people over and cook even more! You too can cook like a champion with recipes from Dr. BBQ’s NFL Gameday Cookbook: Grilled Tuna Sandwiches from Seattle and Baked Brie from New England. Who’s going to win? You’ll have to cook both to find out.

The 17th Annual EGGtoberfest was amazing - here are the highlights Click Here

A few minutes ago my killer security Westie went ballistic so I came running to do mortal combat with whatever intruder I might find.
Well, there was no intruder but this ugly young possum

All the yelling and waving my arms just made it bare it's sharp teeth at me:

So I grabbed a snow shovel and that scared it just enough to slip off the back of my eggs and get half way wedged between the table and wall. Some poking with the shovel got it free and it waddled off the deck!

  • That's one creature that made the short list of what I won't eat. Seen to many of them come out of the southbound end of a northbound dead cow.
My dad has told stories of Great Grandma catching the young ones and keeping them in a cage next to the stove to feed them corn and "clean them out" for a while.

  • We've got the same intruder...water hose is the best weapon. They simply will not budge even when you poke them. But a strong stream of H2O gets 'em going.

thanks for the hint, but being from CA you probably don't know what that white fluffy stuff was laying around.

Trying to get a hose to operate in this condition is problematic, but a big orange snow shovel that was at least 6 times larger than it got its attention!

Sadly we lost our big boy back in May, so now Brogan has to carry the dual load of both security and undercover work as Joe Cool...

Cute? Possums are not cute. Apparently, they're not too popular either. I was driving along a country road once upon a time, behind some local. Don't remember where, but it was either Virginia or NC. Anyway, a possum crossed the road ahead of us. Made it too, except the guy in front of me swerved off the road onto the shoulder just so he could run over him. Such a sudden move that his pickup (what else? :)) fishtailed down the road for 50 yards or so before he regained control!

Worked better than Ron's snow shovel or Smitty's hose.

LOL - 15 years ago two earlier sets of our Westies were with us on a trip out to AZ. Those boys were also hunters and they encountered 3 skunks which THANKFULLY ran under a barn to escape instead of standing their ground and spraying!
