Got my first Large BGE today - delivered and assembled. Christening it with some hot dogs, going to do some salmon later, and then tomorrow the fun starts with some chicken and ribs!

So I audibled, and made a spatchcock chicken, roasted peppers and baked potato as my first real meal on the egg. Everything went well, but a few things I noticed. I used a raised grate for my the chicken as I have seen recommended on the naked whiz site. As a test, I used an oven thermometer and saw it was 300 on the grate, yet the BGE thermometer was at a steady 350. Now most time grate temp is much higher (50-100) then the air temp. Should I look to recalaber the BGE thermometer?
Overall, everything came out really well, but just much longer then expected (about 1 hrs 25 min for the chicken, and on my old gas that would take 45 - 55 min at 350.
Here is a photo of my work!

Congrats, and welcome friend. The chicken looks perfect! Depending on how you set up the egg, the dome temp will be higher than the grate temp. As a cook progresses especially a long low and slow, the two temps will come closer together.
