I've been kicking around making thirdeye's pepper beef for some time now. I finally got around to it yesterday and I must say that I am dang glad that I did. It was fantastic. http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/1996/07/pepper-beef.html
On to the pics
Most of the ingredients
The beef prepped for the egg
Onto the egg for a little smoke and color
Into the DO with the broth
My liquid assistance
Onto Italian rolls, topped with the peppers. The broth was served on the side for dipping
This will definitely move into the regular rotation.

You just created me a trip to the store!!! Man that looks great!! Do you have to wait overnight? :woohoo:
-
Thanks Graham.
-
Thanks. The cook took me a total of about 6hrs, so no overnight.

this might be a silly question.. but how spicy does this turn out to be?
vs. tobasco
vs. siracha
I like it spicy, but i'm the only one in my household.. well me and my 3 yr old.
i've been wanting to make a pepper beef, but have been holding off.context is important -
This was not spicy at all. The pepperonchinis (sp?) turned sweet during the cooking process. I would not hesitate to feed this to my children. As a matter of fact, I'll probably add a bit of jalapeno or cayenne the next time that I make it just to add a touch of spice.

Quite droolworthy! I have been meaning to try that one myself.Knoxville, TN

Cory,
Saw this post this morning. Went to the market after lunch. Mine just went in the crockpot at 2pm.
Pepper beef for dinner.
Oh, and bloody marys.
BTW, I'm in Fayetteville. -
Thanks Chris, you should. Its a good one.
-
Thanks Darian, it did certainly look good in the DO. I am glad that the photos turned out ok.
-
Cocktails, I almost wish that I had did this in the crock pot. It was almost too cold to enjoy cooking it outside and it sure would have made the house smell good.
Mmmm, Bloody Marys
I am actually almost closer to Fayetteville than I am to Griffin and I work in PTC. -
Looks soooooooo delicious! Great photographs
-
Thanks, it was as good for lunch today as it was for dinner last night.
-
Nice... I'll have to dig in freezer at noon to see if I have some hiding in there.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery

Cory, and Thirdeye,
THANK YOU for this recipe. It turned out great and was a big hit here.
I just had some leftover for lunch. Really good. Not spicy at all, just very very flavorful.
Note, I have already taken all the 'broth' away and frozen it with the peppers.
When I skimmed off the (cooled and hardened) fat, I froze that too. Gotta be good for something, later. heh
I'm learning....I'm learning.
Thanks to you guys for putting me onto something delicious.
