Max temp spike problem

Put my turkey on at about 10 this morning using the Mad Max method. All was going well until the last time I basted the bird, at about 11:20. When I opened the lid at that time I didn't notice that the top vent part of the iron cap slid all the way open. When I went to baste 1/2 hour later the temp had hit 550. I completely shut the egg down, waited about 10 minutes (it had gone down to about 470) and put some foil over the bird.

I assume it will be OK once the temp regulates back at 325 and the vents are open again, but thought I should ask here in case there's anything else I should do.

thanks in advance,

John
