It doesn’t get much hotter than the EGG cookin’ in July! Make sure to keep yourself hydrated with a bit of whatever you’re using for the Beer Can Chicken. Ice Cream Sandwiches are also a great way to stay cool. Looking for some great ideas for a summer cook out? Try out a Pimento Cheeseburger or Dr. BBQ’s Spare Rib Surprise. Just don’t be surprised if your neighbors stop by for a quick bite when they smell what you’re cooking!

Fried a digital probe thermometer?

I just stuck a Taylor digital probe thermometer into a turkey on BGE (temp was 350 ish)

I closed the lid on the wires (is this ok?) and 10 minutes later the alrms was screaming--no way at that temp.

I changed the battery but is stuck (in the air!) at 181 plus!

Wonder if it got too hot --is it hard to use those in BGE?

It appears fried

Probes are a high failure item. Yes closing the lid is just fine. Oh well...

  • they are easy to go through....wrap the lead in foil before you cook and it should work...closing the egg on them is just fine

  • It is gone--unless my fridge is now 185 degrees!--wrap the lead? you mean the wire or just the metal insert to meat part? above the meat or?

I'm not sure whatcha mean ?

Wrap all of the wire that will be in the EGG.
Most remote thermo companies sell replacement probes :)
